The Government of Karelia and the company "Cryogas" are preparing for the construction of a plant for the liquefaction of natural gas in the republic

On February 1, a working meeting was held in the Government of Karelia under the leadership of the Head of the Republic Alexander Khudilainen, at which the course of preparation for the implementation of an investment project for the construction of a plant for the production of liquefied natural gas near Petrozavodsk was discussed.

The project intends to implement the company "Cryogas", which has experience in the construction of such complexes in the North-West of Russia. Liquefied natural gas is a new type of fuel that can be used to gasify industrial enterprises located where it is impossible to bring a gas pipeline.

The general director of Cryogas, Richard Rudnitski, thanked the Head and Government of Karelia for their constant assistance in the preparatory work. As a result of common efforts, the Government of Russia issued a decree on the transfer of forest land for the construction of a plant. The production site will be located next to the gas distribution station "Severnaya" near Petrozavodsk.

Gazprombank, which owns the company Cryogas, made a decision in principle to build a plant in Karelia.

The decision on the transfer of land gives us the opportunity to start designing, - said Richard Rudnitsky.

The future production complex for the liquefaction of natural gas will qualify for the status of a priority investment project in Karelia.

With the support of the Government and administrations of the regions, the company Cryogas will start searching and negotiating with industrial enterprises in the republic and the Murmansk region who are economically interested in using a promising new type of fuel to produce heat and electricity, converting large construction and mining equipment to liquefied natural gas.
